About the event

Explore the stories behind the headstones on this special tour of El Campo Santo, one of California's oldest private cemeteries. Before modern medicine, infectious diseases, accidents, and limited medical care claimed the lives of many infants and children, leaving lasting marks on the Workman and Temple family and revealing the heartbreaking realities of childhood in the 19th-century.

Tours depart on the hour at 12, 1, 2, & 3 p.m. Tour sizes are limited and space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note: A significant portion of the tour will take place outdoors (rain or shine) and requires extended periods of standing and walking.
