About the event

For one weekend only! The California Preservation Foundation has put together Doors Open California – the largest statewide celebration of historic places. For a $20 fee, you will have behind-the-scenes and special access to 70+ sites throughout the state that contain amazing architecture and hidden histories, including us!

During the weekend, Homestead Museum visitors will be given a one-of-a-kind tour experience that explores the inspiration behind the building of La Casa Nueva, a Spanish Colonial Revival mansion completed in 1927, that was meant to be a reflection of family identity and also embraces elements of what has been called Spanish Fantasy Heritage. Guests will also receive a gift bag to remember their visit.

Reservations are required, and are made through the California Preservation Foundation. The Homestead Museum will not be registering people for this event. Click here to reserve your spot or to learn more.

The Homestead Museum acknowledges that it is situated on part of the traditional, ancestral, and unceded Gabrieleño/Tongva/Kizh land. We recognize the Indigenous peoples of this territory as the traditional stewards and pay our respects to Indigenous peoples, their ancestors, elders, relatives, and relations, past, present, and emerging.
