About the event

Beloved New York Times bestselling author Lisa See draws on the vibrancy and turmoil of post-Civil War Los Angeles to tell the story of three Chinese women who managed to survive and, eventually, thrive, despite all odds. In crafting the novel, See drew on historical resources from the Homestead Museum’s archive and collection, bringing the people, places, and experiences of early Los Angeles to vivid life.

Join the author for a discussion of her novel and its inspiration, including the historical sources that helped shape the story. A book signing will follow the talk. Books will be available for purchase at the Museum gift shop.

Lisa See is the instant New York Times bestselling author of Daughters of the Sun and Moon, Lady Tan’s Circle of Women, The Island of Sea Women, The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, Peony in Love, Shanghai Girls, China Dolls,…
