About the event

Come take an intriguing trip through the history of LA’s Jewish community via the artifacts and ephemera, from prayer books to matchbooks, from movies to marriage contracts (ketubot) they left for us to ponder. Your guide, journalist, Edmon J. Rodman, has collected early photos, letters and products from Jewish-owned businesses, Jewish New Year postcards, Yiddish music, restaurant menus, and clothing from LA’s rag trade; enough for a lively journey through LA Jewish life in the late-19th and early-20th centuries.

We recognize the Indigenous peoples of this territory as the traditional stewards and pay our respects to Indigenous peoples, their ancestors, elders, relatives, and relations, past, present, and emerging.
